Ulus, one of the historical regions of Ankara, has a bath that serves since 1968. As the bath itself, its sauna part is historical too. Bashkent Hamami, serving about half a century, continues to provide health and hygiene to its clients.
Opening in 1957 in Taksim Cihangir, Sauna Cihangir is one of the first examples of saunas in Turkey. The other thing that makes this bath popular is that the late Zeki Muren, so called Sun of Turkish Classical Music (Sanat Gunesi in Turkish) frequently visited it. The personal cabins show the respect to privacy of people.
Historical Vezneciler Hamami (Vezneciler Bath)
Vezneciler Bath, which was constructed in 1582 by the Grand Vizier of the era with the aim to make profit for Suleymaniye Madrasah, was firstly opened as a Konak Hamami (Bath Mansion) and then presented to public use. Restored in 1965, Vezneciler Bath takes its name from the region of Istanbul where it stands. The exact place is across the tomb of Kuyucu Murat Pasha (Murat Pasha the Well-digger).
